A Look into the History of Moo Moo Smokehouse

Moo Moo Smokehouse & Grill began with a simple passion great meat, real wood smoke, fire and authentic low-and-slow BBQ.

Based at Ormiston Town Centre in South-East Auckland, Moo Moo has been part of the local community for around five years, bringing Texas-style BBQ, smoked meats, premium steaks, specialty game meats, beers and cocktails to customers from across East Auckland and South Auckland.

How Moo Moo Started

Moo Moo was founded by Marc Paul, whose career began as a diesel mechanic before moving into heavy vehicle, transport and fleet management.

Alongside his professional career, Marc developed a strong passion for American BBQ and low-and-slow cooking. The dream of owning a restaurant and bar eventually became a reality with the opening of Moo Moo Smokehouse & Grill.

From the beginning, the focus has been simple: quality meat, real smoke, carefully managed fire and time.

Our Texas-Style BBQ

At Moo Moo, we specialise in Texas-style BBQ, where quality meat and the natural flavour created by smoke and fire take centre stage.

Our pitmasters use traditional offset smokers and carefully manage the temperature and fire throughout the cooking process.

We carefully blend woods including oak, pōhutukawa, mānuka and kānuka to create our distinctive smoke profile. Our meats are seasoned with carefully developed blends of herbs and spices before spending hours in the smoker.

The result is tender, flavourful BBQ that is cooked with patience rather than shortcuts.

Our menu includes smoked Wagyu brisket, beef short ribs, pork ribs, pulled pork, lamb, smoked chicken and house-made sausages, alongside premium steaks and specialty cuts.

More Than Just Brisket

While smoked brisket is at the heart of what we do, Moo Moo is about much more than BBQ.

Our menu features premium steaks including our tomahawk steak, as well as specialty game meats such as venison, kangaroo, ostrich and alpaca, subject to availability.

For customers looking for something different, our game meats and specialty cuts offer an opportunity to experience flavours and cooking styles beyond traditional BBQ.
